Bishop Grimes, named for the second Bishop of Syracuse, the Right Reverend John Grimes, D.D., is a Catholic school located in East Syracuse, New York. Built in 1966, the school was staffed by members of the Marist Fathers, priests from the Syracuse Diocese, the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Carondelet, and lay teachers. The first administrators were Rev. Omer St. Onge, S.M., principal and Sr. Agnes Maria Cavanagh, C.S.J., assistant principal.
Originally built to educate students in grades 9 - 12, the school presently serves the needs of students in grades 7 - 12. The staff includes members from the religious communities of the Order of Franciscan Friars, Sisters of St. Francis of Court Street, Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, priests from the Syracuse Diocese, and lay teachers. The interim principal, Mr. David Wheeler, is assisted by Mr. Patrick Kinne, associate principal.
Bishop Grimes is a Diocesan school built on the gospel message of Jesus Christ and dedicated to providing a high quality Catholic education that prepares students in mind, body and soul to develop the fullness of their talents and abilities and to profess their love of Christ and neighbor in word and deed.
