National Honor Society
Bishop Grimes Chapter of The National Honor Society
Selection for membership is based on outstanding scholarship, character, leadership, and service. Leadership is based on the student’s participation in school and community activities. To meet the service requirement, students must be active in service projects in the school and in the community. Character is measured in terms of integrity, behavior, ethics, and cooperation with both students and faculty. Once selected, a member has the responsibility to continue to demonstrate these qualities. If a student is in violation of any rules, the Faculty Council will initiate the process established by the Society regarding these violations.
Eligibility
To be eligible for membership a student must have been in attendance at Bishop Grimes for the equivalent of one complete academic year, except for the 7th grade. Students must maintain the designated cumulative average as set by the Faculty Council and must be a member of one of those classes designated as eligible. Students in grades 7, 8, and 9 must have a cumulative GPA of at least a 3.8 to be eligible for National Junior Honor Society. Students in grades 10, 11, and 12 must have a cumulative GPA of at least a 3.7 to be eligible for National Honor Society.
National Honor Society Applications
Upon completion of the first semester, qualifying students will receive an application to either National Junior Honor Society or National Honor Society. The Faculty Council consisting of five faculty members will screen the student applicants. Decisions of the Faculty Council are final.
